Do you love smelling fresh and clean all day long, but hate using store-bought deodorants because of all the chemicals? This DIY deodorant might just be the solution you are looking for! This DIY recipe is chemical free and completely customizable for the scent you want. Store-bought deodorants can contain ingredients such as aluminum, fragrance, parabens, and triclosan all of which we shouldn’t be putting on our bodies. Even some of the natural deodorants you can buy can contain a few ingredients that cause allergic reactions. So what exactly will you need to make your own deodorant? Here is a complete list of all the ingredients and what purpose they serve in making you smell great all day!

The Ingredients:

Shea Butter – Soft, moisturizing, and antimicrobial.

Coconut Oil – Soft, moisturizing, and antimicrobial.

Arrowroot Powder or Cornstarch – Absorbs excess moisture.

Baking Soda – Natural deodorizer.

Essential Oil – Natural Deodorizer and scent.

How to Make:

In a double boiler, add in 2 Teaspoons of Shea Butter, 2 Teaspoons of Coconut Oil, and 1 Teaspoon Beeswax and stir gently until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in around 20 drops of Essential Oils of your choosing. We recommend mixing Lemon, Lavender, and Tea Tree Oil for the best deodorizer. Use 10 drops Lemon, 8 drops Lavender, and 4 drops Tea Tree. Using a whisk, mix in 3 Teaspoons of Arrowroot Powder/Cornstarch and 1 1/2 Teaspoons of Baking Soda until all of the dry powder is incorporated into the wet ingredients and there are no clumps. Pour into a container of your choosing and place it into the refrigerator to let it set up.

How to Use:

Apply generously to clean armpits. Allow the Deodorant to dry completely before putting on clothing. Keep in mind, this is not an antiperspirant, you will still sweat because that is what a healthy body is supposed to do. It will just help keep you dry and smelling fresh!

Store in a cool, dry place.
